CY VANCE GAINS DOWNTOWN SUPPORT WITH ENDORSEMENTS FROM
CITY COUNCILMAN ALAN GERSON, LOCAL DISTRICT LEADERS
AND UNITED DEMOCRATIC ORGANIZATION
NEW YORK, NY – Four important forces in downtown Manhattan politics, United Democratic Organization (UDO), District Leaders Dr. Herbert Kee and Jenny Low and City Councilman Alan J. Gerson, all endorsed Cy Vance for Manhattan DA.
Councilman Gerson, of District 1, said, “Cy Vance has the right experience and qualifications to lead the Manhattan DA’s office. As an experienced trial lawyer, on the side of both the prosecution and defense, he will deliver justice and fairness for all New Yorkers. A strong civil rights supporter, he will work to improve fairness on issues like tenants’ rights that are key to the downtown community.”
Virginia Kee, the founder of UDO, Chinatown’s only formal Democratic Party organization, said, “Cy Vance is a leader that will stand up for the rights of all New Yorkers. He is a true progressive on important issues like immigration. His community-based justice plan would allow for partnerships in immigrant communities that would create better relationships between residents and law enforcement. He will make the right choices to keep our streets crime-free.”
“I’m grateful to have this significant support in downtown Manhattan. These neighborhoods want someone who shares their values to lead their DA’s office, and I believe I am that person. I have always been against the death penalty, I support gay marriage, I want to be smart on crime, not just tough, and I want to get illegal guns off our streets. I’m particularly glad, as we celebrate Asian Heritage Month and remember the rich history of the Asian community in New York City, to have the support of the Chinatown neighborhood. Thanks to Councilman Gerson, District Leaders Kee and Low, and UDO for their support,” said Cy Vance.
