    1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East and SEIU Local 32BJ today announced their joint support for Cy Vance, Democratic candidate for Manhattan District Attorney. 1199 and 32BJ are, respectively, the largest healthcare and property service workers unions in the country. Both organizations are committed to the betterment of the society in which we live and work. BLEA selected Vance based on his clear and focused understanding of the concerns of both law enforcement and community, as well as his unwavering commitment to justice. The Club recognized Vance’s focus on prevention programs and keeping our youth safe.

    Vance, who has been endorsed by the New York Times and current DA Robert Morgenthau, also reiterated the need to enact his Plan to Reduce Gun Violence and Trafficking. Under the plan, Vance will employ every resource at the District Attorney’s disposal, including building law enforcement and community coalitions, implementing new technologies, promoting amnesty programs and aggressively lobbying for enhanced legislation.

    More than 20 Chinese Community Organizations Endorse Cy Vance

    The Fukien American Association, along with more than 20 other Chinese community organizations, today announced its support for Cy Vance, Democratic candidate for Manhattan District Attorney. Hugh Mo, former ADA and NYPD Deputy Commissioner, cited Vance’s Immigrant Protection Plan and commitments to safe housing as reasons for the endorsement.

    Kenneth Cheng, President of the Fukien American Association, said: “It is vital for the Chinese community that we have a DA who understands our problems and will work with us to solve them. That is why we are uniting behind Cy Vance. We will support him not only in voice, but also in means.     The League of Young Voters Political Action Committee (LYV) today endorsed Cy Vance, Democratic candidate for Manhattan District Attorney. The League, a national youth empowerment and progressive political organization that focuses on non-college youth and young people from low-income communities and communities of color, voiced enthusiastic support for Vance’s youth initiatives, including the creation of a Youth Advisory Council in the Manhattan DA’s Office. As District Attorney, Vance plans to work with young activists and youth service providers in Manhattan to reform the way the DA’s Office deals with young offenders and to reduce crime among young people.
